Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas seeks a Coding Auditor responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of clinical coding, reimbursement and data integrity across patient records. You will audit coding activity, develop staff education, and serve as a resource on coding standards.

Required RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CIC certifications (AHIMA/AAPC), four years of hospital coding/auditing experience, and strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and 3M coding tools.

Qualifications

• Four years of hospital coding or auditing experience.
• Experience coding/auditing in a level 1 trauma facility/academic teaching facility preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding principles/guidelines.
• Extensive knowledge of 3M Coding applications and resolving coding edits.
• Working knowledge of reimbursement systems/regulations and policies.
• Knowledge of database applications and spreadsheet design.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits and monitor coding accuracy with feedback to staff.
• Develop educational sessions for coding staff on documentation and accurate coding.
• Serve as a resource for coding staff on organization-wide standards and guidelines.
• Design audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding.
• Keep abreast of coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
• Conduct trend analyses to identify patterns and variations in coding practices.
• Adhere to AHIMA standards and official coding guidelines.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors and adhere to MH policies within budget.
• Promote professional growth and serve as mentor to staff.
