Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks an experienced coder to ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical coding for appropriate reimbursement and data integrity. The role reports to the Coding Compliance Manager and supports coding staff with education and process improvements.

Ideal candidates have 4 years of hospital coding/auditing experience, strong ICD-10-CM/CPT knowledge, and AHIMA/AAPC certifications. Requires RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC eligible credentials and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED, required.
• Professional certifications in health information management (RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CIC) preferred or required.
• Minimum four years of hospital coding or auditing experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines.
• Experience with 3M Coding applications and resolving coding edits.
• Familiarity with reimbursement systems, documentation, billing rules, and data integrity.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular coding audits and monitor coding accuracy.
• Develop and coordinate educational sessions for coding staff.
• Serve as a coding standards resource across the organization.
• Design audit tools to monitor coding accuracy and trend analyses.
• Stay updated on coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements.
• Ensure safe, compassionate patient care and compliance with policies.
• Mentor and support staff growth and competency.
