It requires a Bachelor's in religious studies and a Master's in theology/divinity/pastoral studies, with certification preferred and CPE experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in religious studies or related subject and Master's in theology/divinity/pastoral studies is required.
• Certification is preferred. Ordination/endorsement often required with evidence of four CPE units.
• Ongoing commitment to professional development and continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients and families for spiritual needs and coordinates timely services.
• Develops and contributes to the plan of care based on spiritual assessment.
• Provides direct spiritual care to patients and families/caregivers.
• Serves as liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintains records of spiritual care services for QA and policy review.
• Documents direct services and communication with community chaplains.
• Attends IDG meetings and interdisciplinary group meetings.
• Provides education and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care.
• Recruits community chaplains and spiritual care volunteers to meet needs.
• Provides funeral or memorial services as requested.
• Plans periodic memorial services for staff and community clergy.
• Assists in supervising spiritual care volunteers.
