Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in religious studies or related field and a master’s in theology/divinity/pastoral studies required.
• Certification preferred; ordained/commissioned chaplaincy with endorsement letter often required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses spiritual needs of patients and families and ensures timely spiritual services.
• Develops plan of care by participating in comprehensive spiritual assessment.
• Provides direct spiritual care to patients and families.
• Acts as liaison to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintains records of spiritual care services for QA and program development.
• Documents services and ongoing communication with chaplains and counselors.
• Participates in IDG meetings and consults the interdisciplinary team on spiritual care.
• Recruits community chaplains and volunteers to meet patient and family needs.
• Plans memorial services and supports grief care for staff and community.
