Job summary

Compassus is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients and families within our hospice program. The role centers on upholding Compassus values and integrating with the inter-disciplinary team to deliver compassionate care.

The Chaplain will explain hospice benefits, ensure proper documentation, and collaborate with clergy and other care providers while respecting diverse beliefs during end‑of‑life care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Divinity, Social Sciences, or related field preferred, unless required per state regulation.
• Completion of at least one unit of CPE preferred, unless required per state regulation.
• Minimum of one year of experience in spiritual/pastoral support to individuals or families required.
• Minimum of one year of experience in pastoral support related to loss, grief, bereavement, or trauma preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain hospice services and Medicare benefits to patients and families; obtain informed consent and election documents as requested.
• Submit documentation to facilities after patient visits per company policy.
• Articulate regulatory framework governing spiritual counselors (federal and state).
• Participate as an IDT member and contribute to care plan development and implementation.
• Provide spiritual care to patient and family; coordinate with community clergy as requested.
