Job summary

Compassus is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual support to patients and families, aligning with the Compassus philosophy and the 6 Pillars of Success. This role collaborates with the IDT to honor patient values, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds in a hospice setting.

A bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Social Sciences, or related field is preferred, with at least one year of pastoral care experience; CPE is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred unless state regulation requires otherwise.
• Completion of at least one unit of CPE preferred, unless required per state regulation.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing spiritual/pastoral support to individuals or families; trauma/bereavement experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain hospice services and Medicare benefits to patients and families; obtain informed consent and election of benefits documents as requested.
• Submit appropriate documentation to facilities after patient visits; ensure timely completion per policy.
• Participate in IDT; contribute to plan of care and coordinate spiritual care with patient/family needs.
• Provide spiritual care to patients and families; support involvement of community clergy as requested.
• Identify need for intervention from other IDT members; communicate needs clearly to the team.
• Maintain up-to-date care plans reflecting problems, goals, and interventions; respect family beliefs and nondiscrimination.
