Job summary

Mountaineer Homecare, part of LHC Group within the Optum family, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant in Charleston, WV. You will perform treatment and provide exercise instruction and patient education to support well‑being under the supervising PT.

Responsibilities include following state laws, aiding with gait and mobility, documenting patient responses, coordinating with the care team, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice
• Current driver’s license and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation
• Available to work a weekend rotation

Responsibilities

• Follow state laws governing home health physical therapy and perform only those procedures that you are qualified and trained to perform under the supervising PT
• Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, gait, functional mobility, and transfer training
• Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT and care team the patient’s response to treatment and changes in condition
• Instruct patients, family, caregiver, and other health‑care team members in therapy within the PTA scope
• Function effectively in home settings regardless of age, race, creed, color, sex, disability, or financial condition of the client
