Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to provide skilled PT services in patients' homes under a licensed PT’s supervision. You will implement treatment plans to improve mobility, strength, balance and independence, while promoting safety and wellness in a home setting.

You will collaborate with patients, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to support recovery and quality of life. Prior PTA experience in home health and CAPTE accreditation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a PTA in the assigned state.
• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program.
• Current CPR certification.
• 1+ years of PTA experience in home health care.
• If under 1 year, regional leadership approval and mentoring/residency required.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed PT and approved plan of care.
• Observes and reports patient response to treatment to PT and clinical staff.
• Provides resources for future needs and promotes wellness.
• Documents supervisory activities in the patient’s medical record.
• Monitors patient response to physical therapy interventions.
• Participates in patient care conferences, in-services, chart audits, and quality improvement activities.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• Makes follow-up care recommendations and coordinates with admitting agency and community resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
