Job summary

UVA Health is seeking an Ambulatory Program Assistant Coordinator to help newly established HIV patients enter care and access Ryan White Program resources. You will work with physicians, nurse coordinators, and the care team to ensure coordinated, compassionate care and social support for patients with complex needs.

This role blends direct patient interaction with resource navigation and eligibility support, within a highly collaborative specialty environment focused on excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: 3 years clinical experience.
• Licensure: AHA BLS certification required.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification through recognized associations.
• EMT/Paramedic option: Virginia Health EMT/Paramedic level required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with newly established HIV patients and help them navigate the process of entering care.
• Assess socioeconomic needs and identify appropriate case management support.
• Assist patients with Ryan White Program eligibility and enrollment.
• Coordinate with physicians, nurse coordinators, and other care team members to support access to treatment and services.
• Serve as a knowledgeable, patient-facing representative of the Ryan White Program.
• Help connect patients throughout Virginia with resources that support continuity of care.
• Contribute to a culture centered on collaboration, transparency, open communication, and excellent patient care.
