Job summary

University of Virginia Health is seeking an Ambulatory Program Assistant Coordinator to help newly established HIV patients enter care and access Ryan White Program resources. You will work with physicians, nurses, and the care team to coordinate services for patients with complex social needs.

The role blends patient interaction with resource navigation and eligibility support, contributing to a collaborative, patient-centered care environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: 3 years clinical experience.
• Licensure: AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certification from national associations (AAMA/AMT/NAHP/ARMA/NHA) required.
• Virginia EMT-Intermediate/Advanced EMT or Paramedic certification required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with newly established HIV patients and help navigate entering care.
• Assess socioeconomic needs and identify case management support.
• Assist patients with Ryan White Program eligibility and enrollment.
• Coordinate with physicians, nurse coordinators, and care team members to support access to treatment and services.
• Serve as a knowledgeable, patient-facing representative of the Ryan White Program.
• Connect patients across Virginia with resources that support continuity of care.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, transparency, and excellent patient care.
