Job summary

NorthBay Health is seeking a Coder I to join the Health Information Management Team. You will convert diagnoses and procedures for emergency and outpatient cases into ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes with accuracy and timeliness, using an EHR system and encoder.

The role requires knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and reimbursement methods, with experience in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS. You must have a private, distraction-free home workspace for HIPAA compliance and be prepared for

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Requires CCS or RHIT or RHIA in good standing.
• Two+ years of experience coding ICD10/CPT in an HIM department in an acute care hospital is preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records/encoder systems required.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodologies (DRGs, HCCs, APCs) and ICD10-CM, CPT, HCPCS conventions.

Responsibilities

• Convert diagnoses and procedures for emergency and outpatient cases into ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes accurately and timely.
• Understand clinical content of health records and use EHR/encoder to perform duties.
• Abstract demographic and physician data to meet internal and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Follow coding guidelines set by AHA Coding Clinic, ICD, CMS, HCAI and NorthBay Health.
