Job summary

Corewell Health seeks an experienced hospital coder to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding for inpatient and outpatient services. The role involves abstracting data from the Epic EMR and using 3M encoder tools while upholding quality and productivity standards.

You will collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to ensure DRG/APR-DRG accuracy, provide coding guidance to staff, and participate in process improvements. A strong background in HIM and AHIMA credentials is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant coding experience.
• Credentials: CCS, RHIT or RHIA eligibility per AHIMA.
• AHIMA credentials must be obtained within 180 days of hire or upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes according to guidelines.
• Review outpatient service lines and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes with modifiers.
• Abstract data from Epic EMR while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical teams to ensure DRG/APR-DRG accuracy.
• Provide education on coding guidelines to clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Participate in process improvements and attend staff meetings.
