Job summary

NKC Health is seeking an experienced HIM Facility Coder to maintain clinical databases, code and abstract medical records, and ensure accurate claim processing. You will assign CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes per guidelines and collaborate with Revenue Integrity to resolve edits and verify code accuracy.

The role requires 1-3 years of facility medical coding experience, proficiency with 3M and Oracle Cerner, and strong knowledge of coding guidelines, anatomy, physiology, and reimbursement rules.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and CMS guidelines.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, compliance and reimbursement guidelines.
• Experience in facility medical coding and/or billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clinical databases through coding and abstracting of medical records.
• Assign CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes per Official Coding Guidelines, CMS guidelines and internal policies.
• Determine first listed diagnosis, secondary diagnosis, and surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with Revenue Integrity and Patient Financial Services to resolve edits and verify code accuracy.
