Job summary

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep Utah's highways safe and functional. The role offers potential progression from Transportation Technician I to II via UDOT's TEP program, with training and cross-training opportunities after about 18 months.

This on-site position at Ogden Maintenance Station requires a CDL within 6 months, physical ability to lift 50 lbs, and a willingness to work in varying weather.

Qualifications

• CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire; UDOT provides paid training and testing.
• Ability to report within 30 minutes and be available 24 hours as needed.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Smartphone with data plan (department allowance).
• Commitment to certifications and continued education via UDOT TEP.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on state routes, highways, and drainage features.
• Operate heavy machinery including snowplows, salt spreaders, and blowers.
• Maintain and operate heavy equipment such as front-end loaders and graders.
• Use department software to track assets and document work.
• Manage roadside vegetation and perform outdoor duties in various weather conditions.
