Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to join the front-line crew maintaining Utah’s highways. The role can be filled as Technician I or II, with progression through UDOT’s TEP program.

Responsibilities include operating snowplows, loaders, graders, and equipment, using software to track assets, and performing outdoor maintenance year-round. Must hold a CDL-A and be able to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• A Class A CDL is required.
• Must be able to report within 30 minutes to Brigham City or Wellsville stations and be available 24/7 for operations.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must maintain a smartphone data plan and be eligible for a department allowance.
• Commitment to completing required certifications through the UDOT TEP program.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on state routes, highways and drainage features.
• Operate snowplows, salt spreaders and blowers to clear roadways in winter.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes and graders.
• Use department software to track assets and document work by crews and contractors.
• Manage roadside vegetation using various methods, including herbicides.
• Work outdoors in varying weather and perform physically demanding tasks.
