Job summary

The State of New Hampshire's Highway Maintenance division seeks a Highway Maintainer III for Turnpikes in Hooksett. You will operate and troubleshoot complex highway maintenance and construction equipment, including snow and ice operations, to keep roads safe.

This full-time role requires a CDL-A, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and readiness to respond to winter and other emergencies 24/7. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A) with appropriate tank endorsement.
• MVR must meet minimum DOT standards.
• Pre-employment urinalysis drug screen per US DOT requirements.
• Ability to lift/carry material weighing up to 50 lbs. intermittently.
• Must be reachable 24 hours per day with phone.

Responsibilities

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment used in construction and snow/ice removal.
• Maintains assigned equipment and performs field repairs and adjustments, reporting issues to supervisor.
• Observes winter storm conditions and determines appropriate plowing actions per safety policies.
• Supervises and trains small crews to ensure safe maintenance methods and environmental practices.
• Performs highway maintenance tasks under adverse conditions with traffic exposure.
• Performs tasks requiring heavy physical labor and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Responds to winter maintenance and traffic emergencies 24/7 year-round.
