Job summary

New Hampshire DOT in District 1 is seeking a Highway Maintainer III to perform skilled year-round highway maintenance with complex heavy equipment, snow and ice operations, and emergency traffic services. You will supervise entry-level crews and coordinate maintenance projects for the State Highway System.

Applicants must hold a valid CDL-A (no air brake restrictions) and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
License/Certification: Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A), with no air brake restrictions
MVR standards and pre-employment drug screen required
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis
CDL trainee option available with progression within 1 year of hire

Responsibilities

Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment and vehicles.
Maintains and repairs equipment; performs field adjustments and emergency repairs.
Monitors winter conditions and directs plowing and de-icing operations.
Supervises small crews and contractors to ensure safe, efficient work methods.
Ensures highway maintenance tasks are performed under safety and environmental policies.
