The State of New Hampshire is hiring for a Highway Maintainer III position in District 1. The role involves operating and maintaining heavy highway equipment, supervising entry-level crews, and performing year-round maintenance and emergency response.

Qualified candidates need a CDL-A (no air brake restrictions), with education/experience equivalent to 1 year post-high school, and must pass a DOT drug screen and medical card requirements.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A), with no air brake restrictions.
• MVR must meet minimum standards as established by the Department of Transportation.
• Medical card required; pre-employment drug screen per US DOT requirements.
• Ability to lift/carry material up to 50 lbs intermittently.
• Must have a working telephone or other communication method and be available 24 hours per day.

Responsabilités

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance equipment and machinery.
• Maintains equipment; performs emergency repairs and reports issues to supervisor.
• Assess road conditions in winter and determine plowing/abrasive strategies.
• Supervise small crews and contractors to ensure safe methods and practices.
• Work under adverse conditions with high-speed traffic to ensure public safety.
• Perform heavy physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs; maintain equipment.
• Respond immediately to winter maintenance and traffic emergencies year-round.
