Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design to join our New England Transportation team. Based at one of our offices (Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH), you will guide complex projects, mentor junior staff, and deliver innovative transportation solutions.

You will lead design development, ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate with project leaders, and support proposals with technical insights and cost estimates. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects and ensure accuracy throughout the lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day oversight of transportation planning and design projects and ensure milestones are met.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance for professional growth.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal as required.
• Perform site reviews and studies; update design requirements as needed.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client RFPs and review drafts for adherence to standards.
