Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to advance highway design projects in the New England region. Base locations include Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH with travel around 10%.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee complex transportation design work, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while guiding project teams to successful, on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects, communicate the vision for final deliverables, and ensure technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects, ensuring milestones and quality standards are met.
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Technical Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects.
• Review draft designs for compliance with regulations and sign and seal designs as required.
• Perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Collaborate with sales staff to respond to client RFPs.
