Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader for highway design projects in the New England Transportation group. Based in Boston, MA, East Hartford, CT, or Manchester, NH, you will lead technical work, mentor junior staff, and drive innovative solutions through the project lifecycle.

You will coordinate design criteria, construction plans, and cost estimates while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Travel is required up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the technical advancement of highway design projects, communicate the vision for final deliverables, and ensure technical accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide day-to-day direct oversight of transportation planning and design projects, ensuring milestones and quality standards are met.
• Supervise, review, and mentor junior engineers; provide technical guidance and training for professional growth.
• Develop project design criteria, alignments, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Leaders and Project Managers to deliver high-complexity projects tailored to client requirements.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; sign and seal designs as required.
• Perform site studies to ensure designs align with location specifications.
• Assist in proposal development and review draft proposals for adherence to standards.
