Job summary

Overland Contracting Inc. seeks a Substation Journeyman to plan, lay out, install, test, and maintain high voltage substation wiring and equipment across generating stations and substations.

You will work with hand and power tools, read detailed diagrams, and ensure safety standards are met in a demanding industrial setting. You’ll operate equipment around live systems up to 500,000 volts, participate in safety programs, and mentor helpers as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of substation experience or equivalent in industrial construction.
• Ability to read plans, specs, P&ID diagrams and one-line diagrams.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work with high voltage systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lay-out, install, test, repair, or maintain high voltage substation wiring and equipment.
• Install control and distribution apparatus and grounding leads; test circuits for safety and compatibility.
• Operate various equipment and machinery around live substation equipment up to 500,000 volts; ensure safety and compliance.
