Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a highly qualified Special Educator to join the Diverse Learning Team. You will provide specially designed instruction in small groups for students with disabilities on your caseload and teach content materials.

The Resource Room Intervention Specialist will teach Math or English to meet graduation requirements, work with a maximum of 16 students per period, and lead transition activities during the diverse learning lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License or willingness to pursue certification by start date via Traditional/Alternative/Supplemental pathways.
• Experience with ETR meetings and writing ETR part 1.
• Experience with writing IEPs, progress monitoring, progress reporting & data collection.
• Ability to demonstrate content knowledge in Math or English.
• Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Design and execute instructional strategies aligned with Ohio Learning Standards for students with disabilities.
• Provide direct intervention for students with disabilities in the special education setting.
• Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum to meet unique learning needs.
• Use evidence-based instructional strategies to support academic growth.
• Serve as a liaison between students, families, and related service providers.
• Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and MTSS meetings.
• Implement behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports.
• Provide social‑emotional learning (SEL) support to students with disabilities.
• Utilize de‑escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
• Assess students' progress using formal and informal assessments.
• Maintain documentation and progress reports for IEPs.
• Adhere to Ohio’s Standards for services to students with disabilities.
