Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a highly qualified Special Educator for the Resource Room to support students with disabilities. You will implement IEPs, design instructional strategies, and provide targeted interventions to groups of up to 16 students per period.

You will collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers, participate in ETR/MTSS processes, and ensure compliance with Ohio standards and anti-racist practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License or willingness to pursue certification by start date via Traditional/Alternative/Supplemental pathways.
• Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to demonstrate content knowledge in Math or English.
• Experience using Ohio’s Extended Learning Standards.
• Experience with participating in ETR meetings and writing ETR Part 1.
• Experience with writing IEPs, progress monitoring, progress reporting & data collection.
• Belief in outstanding school leadership, staff, and teachers delivering excellent outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Design and execute instructional strategies aligned with Ohio Learning Standards.
• Provide direct intervention for students with disabilities in the special education setting.
• Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum for diverse learners.
• Collaborate with families and related service providers.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including IEP and MTSS meetings.
• Maintain documentation and progress reports for IEPs.
• Monitor student progress and adjust strategies based on data.
