Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a highly qualified Special Educator (Intervention Specialist) to support students with disabilities. The role focuses on delivering specially designed instruction in small groups, coordinating with general education staff, and advocating for inclusive practices and appropriate accommodations.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, data-driven progress monitoring, and collaboration with families and related service providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Current Ohio Special Education Intervention Specialist License or willingness to pursue certification by start date via Traditional, Alternative, or Supplemental pathways.
• Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with ETR meetings and writing IEPs, progress monitoring and data collection.
• Ability to collaborate with general education staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Design instructional strategies aligned with Ohio standards for students with disabilities.
• Provide direct intervention in general and special education settings.
• Differentiate instruction and modify curriculum for diverse learners.
• Co-plan and co-teach with general education teachers.
• Liaise between students, families, and service providers.
• Adhere to inclusive practices and accommodations.
• Participate in IEP and MTSS meetings.
• Implement BIPs and SEL supports.
• Maintain progress documentation for IEPs.
