Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; bachelor degree preferred.
• Understanding of the LTL trucking industry and basic paperwork flow.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership to hire, coach, counsel, train and mentor.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Strong computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office).
• Willing to work 50 hours/week, including nights and/or weekends.
• Able to lift ~20 lbs and comply with company policies.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct drivers and other employees; set targets and coach.
• Manage an efficient LTL operation including dock planning and schedules.
• Enforce safety rules and government regulations.
• Involved in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan.
• Meet KPI targets and utilize P&D tools and processes.
• Review and revise driver schedules to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
• Oversee equipment assignment and accountability (trailers/tractors).
• Review freight movement with drivers to meet customer expectations.
• Communicate with customers regarding scheduling; resolve concerns.
• Analyze and adjust vehicle/driver assignments for consolidation and cost savings.
• Direct delivery timetables; ensure timely paperwork.
• Conduct safety interviews and training as needed.
• Attend regularly and perform other duties as assigned.
