Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines in California is seeking an Operations Manager to lead drivers and staff, set targets, monitor performance, and coach development; responsible for a safe, efficient LTL operation including dock planning and scheduling.

You will enforce company policies and safety rules, participate in hiring and termination, and administer parts of the service center plan to achieve KPIs. Daily use of P&D tools, coordinate with customers, and maintain required paperwork, audits and training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area
• Strong leadership including hiring, coaching, counseling, training and termination
• Team building and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication
• Excellent planning and organization skills
• Proficiency with computer systems (AS/400, MS Office)
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week, including nights/weekends

Responsibilities

• Lead drivers and employees; set targets and monitor performance
• Manage efficient, safe LTL operation including dock planning and scheduling
• Enforce company policies, safety rules and regulations
• Participate in hiring and termination processes
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan
• Meet KPI targets and drive continuous improvement
• Utilize P&D tools and processes daily
• Review driver schedules to improve efficiency and reduce cost
• Coordinate with customers regarding delivery expectations
• Oversee paperwork and city operation documentation; ensure timely handling
• Conduct safety interviews and training as needed
• Demonstrate flexibility to perform additional duties as required
