Job summary

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and active or soon-to-be certifications in SD 911 Basic, EMD, NCIC, and CJIS. A rotating Sunday–Saturday schedule may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and 1-year of related certifications.
• South Dakota 911 Basic, EMD, NCIC, and CJIS certifications or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Pass physicals, hearing test, and pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process emergency and routine calls; gather essential information.
• Page responders and provide radio dispatch; include EMD and pre-arrival instructions.
• Track calls in LEDS CAD and monitor responder status.
• Maintain contact with callers and relay information to responders clearly.
• Read maps quickly and relay details to responders concisely.
• Dispatch additional help as needed; activate warning systems during weather threats.
• Process information requests for vehicle records and warrants.
• Maintain logs of towed vehicles and holds; manage CJIS and IPR files.
• Create arrest sheets for multi-county area and enter warrants in state system.
• Coordinate with agencies; run driver and criminal history queries for authorized personnel.
• Enter/retrieve information from LEDS, NLETS, and NCIC.
