Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a Shop Technician to perform precise repairs of heavy machinery components in a well-equipped workshop. You will ensure timely task completion, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety standards to support high repair efficiency and minimal rework.

The role requires experience in heavy equipment repair, ability to read technical manuals, and strong collaboration with team members to maintain quality and productivity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in Diesel Technology or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment repair or related technical field; equivalent combinations considered.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules incl. shifts, weekends, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Complete repair tasks efficiently and meet or surpass flat rate times and minimize re-dos.
• Follow safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
• Document work orders, parts orders, JSA, and data in systems such as DBS, SIMS, SIS Web, and STW.
• Enforce contamination control and HAZMAT guidelines.
• Remove/install machine parts, test assemblies, and perform repairs with minimal supervision.
• Provide quotes and pricing estimates by evaluating repair needs and resources.
• Diagnose mechanical failures using diagnostic tools and knowledge; propose repair solutions.
• Test and verify repairs before job closure.
• Analyze failures to determine root causes and develop fixes.
• Communicate progress and best practices with team to improve shop performance.
