Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and trucks on-site. You will perform pre-trip inspections, routine maintenance, and coordinate with teams for site preparation and waste handling.

Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment experience is preferred; candidates must pass equipment-specific training and maintain high safety standards. Flexible hours, including nights/weekends, may be required.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient operating heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, and trucks.
• Must pass training to operate other landfill equipment as needed.
• Reliability and self-motivation are essential for daily operations.
• Excellent communication with team and customers is required.
• Ability to maneuver large equipment through tight driving areas.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely to spread, compact, and load MSW or recyclables.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; complete documentation.
• Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning).
• Work on-site for earth moving, landscaping, snow removal, and related tasks.
• Monitor equipment for proper operation and uptime; maintain safety and compliance.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Handle roll-off work and yard tractor operations as needed.
• Follow hazardous waste handling procedures per training and policy.
