Job summary

Rumpke Waste and Recycling seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate a range of equipment including bulldozers, excavators, and loaders at our Columbus, IN site. You will perform inspections, basic maintenance, and assist with site development tasks.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years operating heavy equipment, can complete required trainings, and is able to work nights or weekends as needed. Equal opportunity employer and safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience operating heavy equipment such as excavator, backhoe, dozer, and off-road truck or similar.
• Must pass a written and operational test to be certified to operate each piece of heavy equipment.
• Hazardous waste management training within six months of employment (as applicable).
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders) safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections and document findings.
• Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning) on equipment.
• Move earth, soil, and materials for site development and landfill operations.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Perform on-site roll-off work to switch trash compactors as needed.
• Move and stage trailers with yard tractor as required.
