Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate heavy equipment across our sites, including bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, and loaders. You will perform inspections, routine maintenance, and assist with earth-moving tasks for landfill and site projects.

The role requires at least 3 years of equipment operation experience and successful testing/certification for each machine.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years experience operating heavy equipment such as an excavator, backhoe, dozer, and off-road truck or similar experience preferred.
Must pass a written and operational test to be certified to operate each piece of heavy equipment
Must successfully complete hazardous waste management training within six months of employment, with annual reviews

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment (bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks) safely and in compliance with regulations
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required paperwork
Perform routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning)
Move and place waste or soil as needed for site preparation and landfill operations
Interact professionally with internal and external customers
Manage hazardous waste handling in a safe manner on site
