Job summary

Rumpke is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely run heavy equipment for MSW and recyclable operations at our Columbus, OH facility. The role includes performing earth-moving tasks, inspections, routine maintenance, and on-site material handling, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Proven experience with heavy equipment, good communication, and the ability to work night shifts are required. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are offered, including health, dental, vision, 401(k)

Qualifications

• Must be proficient on heavy equipment
• Ability to successfully complete training on other landfill equipment, as necessary
• Must possess good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively and professionally with others
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently (bulldozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, etc.)
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document findings
• Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, fueling, and cleaning
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers
• Operate on-site roll off work and yard tractor movements as needed
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and monitor equipment for downtime
