Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate a range of heavy machinery at our facilities and sites. You will perform earthmoving tasks, site prep, and equipment roll-off operations while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of heavy equipment experience, passes required tests, and can work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience operating heavy equipment such as excavator, backhoe, dozer, or off-road truck.
• Must pass a written and operational test to be certified to operate each piece of heavy equipment.
• Must complete hazardous waste training within six months of employment, per company plan.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document results.
• Conduct routine maintenance (lubrication, fueling, cleaning) on equipment.
• Execute earthmoving tasks, site prep, and loading/unloading as required.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
• Conduct on-site roll-off work and move trailers as needed.
• Operate yard tractor to move and stage trailers.
• Safely manage hazardous waste materials per procedures.
