Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator to support road and right-of-way maintenance. You will operate a variety of vehicles and assist with loading, grading, and site preparation.

This role requires working outdoors in all weather, overtime, nights, and weekends as needed. You should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to follow safety procedures and communicate with supervision effectively.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with prior field experience.
• Must possess basic knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow and relay written and oral instructions.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and large equipment to maintain roads and rights-of-way.
• Load and spread gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade surfaces.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts and pipes.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication.
• Instruct and train other workers in safe operation and techniques.
• Inspect equipment and identify defects.
