Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX, seeks an experienced Equipment Operator to operate heavy construction equipment and support road maintenance projects. You will load materials, grade surfaces, and assist with trenching and pipe installations.

The role requires the ability to follow complex instructions, perform equipment inspections, and train others in safe operation. Outdoor work and overtime may be required in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior field experience preferred.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Proficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicles and heavy equipment to excavate, move and grade material.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes and sewers; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication of equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of construction equipment.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects and causes of problems.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities for work activities; determine time and resources needed.
• Review subordinate work for compliance with plans and specifications; identify and correct deficiencies.
