Job summary

The City of Austin seeks a skilled Drainage Operations and Maintenance II to operate a variety of heavy equipment, assist with maintenance, and support storm water management projects at 9200 Sherman Rd, Austin, TX 78742.

Responsibilities include road and drainage work, traffic control, and safety inspections. A Class A CDL and basic blueprint reading are preferred, with possible on-call shifts and outside work conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent with related field experience.
• Two years' experience in maintenance/construction; 6 months operating heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of traffic control and safety practices is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and trucks for drainage projects.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Set up traffic control devices and ensure safe work zones.
• Read blueprints and work with field crews to complete tasks.
