Job summary

GFL Industries in Mayfield, KY seeks a heavy equipment operator to bale, load and move waste material using excavator, front loader, bulldozer or similar gear. You will operate equipment safely and perform daily inspections and maintenance checks.

This role requires the ability to follow instructions, read gauges, speak and write English, and communicate with coworkers via two‑way radio. A GED or high school diploma is desired; forklift certification and optional transfer station/landfill cert

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma desired but not required.
• Completion of forklift certification.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste into trailers.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks of equipment.
• Grease and lubricate equipment; check fluids daily.
• Steer, guide and drive listed equipment at the assigned site.
• Substitute for another operator as needed.
• Clean trash from tracks and gear mechanisms daily.
• Communicate with co-workers via two-way radio about work activities and priorities.
