Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a dedicated operator to run heavy machinery in a high-volume waste facility. You will bale, load, and move materials while performing routine maintenance and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

You will coordinate with ground crews, document inspections, and adapt to varied tasks to keep daily production on track. A customer-focused, safety-driven mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Certifications: Forklift Certification required; ability to obtain transfer station/landfill certification within a few months.
• Communication: Proficient in English to document inspections and communicate via radio.
• Aptitude: Basic math and gauge-reading skills for load tracking.

Responsibilities

• Precision Operation: Operate excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and skid steers to bale, load, and manage waste materials.
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform daily pre/post-trip inspections, check fluids, grease parts, and clear debris.
• Operational Safety: Coordinate with ground crews via radios to prevent incidents.
• Site Stewardship: Keep the facility organized and clean equipment tracks; manage litter and ground integrity.
• Team Versatility: Substitute for others and assist with general labor to maintain daily production.
• Regulatory Compliance: Follow OSHA/CCOHS standards and internal safety protocols.
