Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Wisconsin is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units. This role participates in care team communications and supports the continuum of care across the department.

The HUC will monitor supplies, assist with orders in the EHR, and help the care team with patient needs, while upholding Mayo Clinic's patient-first standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Successful completion of a health unit coordinator program or comparable experience (preferred).
• Current CHUC certification (preferred).
• Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in "non-expired" status (preferred).
• Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills.
• Ability to multitask, work well under pressure and meet deadlines, demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, writing and listening skills.
• Flexibility (Works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, and/or nights, holidays, and weekends).
• Self-directed. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team.
• Monitor supplies and assist with ordering; manage orders in the EHR.
• Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and facility staff; plays an integral role in communication across the continuum of care.
• Functions as a resource to health care team members and participates in continuous improvement activities.
• Supports nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse.
