Job summary

St. Croix Health is seeking a full-time Unit Coordinator to join our care coordination team. The role focuses on scheduling patient appointments, supporting patient advocacy, and relaying communications across care teams in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will verify demographics and insurance, maintain accurate records in the EHR, and ensure compliance with HIPAA. Weekend rotations and early/late shifts are included to support provider schedules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of healthcare patient services experience preferred.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work independently with multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency with scheduling and patient data entry.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate unit care activities to support providers and patient care staff.
• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments per guidelines.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and referrals.
• Maintain EHR with accurate patient information.
• Advocate for patients by communicating with care teams.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Assist with pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Answer calls and messages, resolve scheduling issues.
