Job summary

Alteva RCM is seeking a Professional Coder to review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and CPT codes for professional services across specialties. You will apply coding guidelines, payer-specific rules, and regulatory requirements to ensure accurate code selection and timely reimbursements.

Responsibilities include researching payer edits, maintaining documentation quality, and meeting daily productivity targets while staying current with coding guidelines and credential requirements.

Qualifications

• Completion of AHIMA or AAPC-approved coding program with active credential (e.g., CPC, CCS).
• Minimum of 3 years physician/professional services coding across specialties.
• Proficient CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and Medicare/Medicaid policies knowledge.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate/bachelor degree preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office; reporting/data analysis experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; collaboration with teams.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and procedure codes accurately.
• Research payer edits and documentation questions; escalate when needed.
• Maintain coding quality and meet daily productivity targets.
• Communicate issues and risks to Lead Medical Coder or Coding Manager.
• Assist with audits, denial prevention, and documentation improvements.
