Job summary

Alteva RCM in the United States is seeking a Professional Coder who will review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and CPT codes for professional services across specialties, ensuring alignment with coding guidelines and payer rules. The role focuses on coding accuracy, timely submissions, and ongoing compliance to minimize denials and support financial health.

Candidates should hold an AHIMA or AAPC credential, have at least 3 years of physician/professional services coding experience,

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential with active status (e.g., CPC, CCS)
• Minimum 3 years of physician/professional services coding across specialties
• Proficient in CPT, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, and Medicare/Medicaid policies for professional services
• High school diploma required; associate/bachelor's preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with data analysis tools preferred
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with encoder tools and queue-based workflows
• Experience with coding audits, denial prevention, or documentation improvement preferred

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and assign diagnosis and procedure codes for professional services
• Code tickets accurately and timely to support clean claim submission and reimbursement
• Research and resolve coding scenarios, including payer edits and documentation questions
• Meet daily productivity targets and maintain coding quality
• Communicate coding issues and trends to Lead Medical Coder or Coding Manager
• Escalate complex documentation through established workflows for timely resolution
