Job summary

Alteva RCM is seeking a Medical Coding Manager to lead a team of coders across assigned specialties, ensuring daily performance, accuracy, and productivity while ensuring compliance with coding guidelines. This role partners with Billing, Clinical, and Compliance to support clean claim submission and protect revenue integrity.

The Manager will drive performance through coaching, set clear expectations, and manage escalations for complex coding issues, working in a fast-paced healthcare

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience in revenue cycle management including physician collections, A/R follow-up, and denial management.
• 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong understanding of billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10), and payer guidelines.
• Proven track record of driving revenue performance and improving operational outcomes.
• Experience managing client relationships in a healthcare or revenue cycle environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel) and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop team members.
• Allocate work based on complexity, volume, and capacity.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and competency validation.
• Establish clear performance expectations and evaluate against quality and productivity standards.
• Address performance gaps with coaching and corrective action plans.
• Conduct regular operational reviews with direct reports to assess capacity and compliance.
• Serve as escalation point for complex coding scenarios and payer issues.
• Resolve escalated coding questions in line with guidelines and payer requirements.
• Track escalation volume and resolution time to identify trends and improve processes.
• Escalate systemic, high-risk issues to the Senior Medical Coding Manager with recommended steps.
