Job summary

American Senior Communities in South Bend, IN is seeking a PRN Cook to join the Cardinal ASC culinary team. You will prepare nutritious meals according to menus, maintain sanitation, and lead kitchen staff in meal prep to support resident well‑being.

You will follow recipes, ensure meals are produced in correct quantities, and comply with state and federal regulations while maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling.
• Preferred: Prior Institutional and/or Healthcare service experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows recipes and prepares food that meets residents’ nutritional needs.
• Cooks or prepares palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in required quantities.
• Leads kitchen staff with food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains a clean food service work area during food preparation and service.
• Handles, stores, and disposes of food according to procedures and state/federal regulations.
