Job summary

American Senior Communities in Scottsburg, IN is seeking a PRN Cook to join the culinary team. You will prepare meals that meet residents' nutritional needs, lead kitchen tasks, and maintain sanitation and safety standards in a healthcare setting.

The role emphasizes adherence to state and federal regulations, teamwork, and delivering nutritious, appealing meals to residents. Prior healthcare food service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
• Preferred: Sanitation/Safe Food Handling certification; may be earned while employed.
• Preferred: Prior institutional/healthcare service experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows recipes and prepares meals meeting residents’ nutritional needs.
• Cooks or prepares meals in appropriate quantities.
• Leads kitchen staff with food prep, trays, cleaning and storage.
• Maintains a clean food service work area during service.
• Handles, stores, and disposes of food in compliance with procedures and regulations.
