Job summary

AdaptHealth LLC is seeking an Intake Specialist to support patient access to care by coordinating referrals, reviewing clinical documentation, and ensuring services are set up accurately and efficiently.

You will work with patients, providers, and internal teams to navigate insurance requirements, confirm eligibility, and move the intake process forward smoothly in a fast-paced healthcare environment. One year of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year of relatable work experience required
• High School Diploma or Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or equivalent
• Experience in management, administrative, clerical, insurance, billing, claims, call center, or customer service preferred but not required
• Healthcare organization, pharmacy, HME, medical supply, or Medicare environment experience is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office and healthcare systems
• Comfort learning new technologies and navigating multiple systems
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures

Responsibilities

• Review medical records, payer guidelines to determine patient eligibility and compliance before service delivery
• Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibility and document interactions
• Contact patients when documentation does not meet payer requirements and provide options
• Work with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams to obtain complete documentation
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of payer requirements to ensure appropriate services
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient information using electronic systems
• Enter referrals within established timeframes while meeting productivity and quality standards
• Coordinate with leadership to ensure inventory and services are scheduled
• Collaborate with sales, insurance verification, and internal teams to facilitate intake
• Navigate multiple EMR and online systems to manage documentation
• Ensure appropriate shipping and delivery methods are selected per procedures
• Answer incoming calls and provide professional assistance to patients and referral sources
• Participate in on-call rotation during non-business hours
