Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding in mid-level facilities/clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CPC-A Apprentice.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures. (65%)
• Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into the system. (15%)
• Manages unbilled coding report and cash flow. (10%)
• Keeps updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines through training and resources. (5%)
• Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)
