Allegheny Health Network seeks a medical coder to thoroughly review medical records, interpret diagnoses, and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes to ensure accurate billing and compliance. You will abstract data elements and maintain coding databases, contributing to timely cash flow and quality reporting.

Requirements include RHIT/RHIA or CPC credentials, 1 year coding experience, and strong data entry skills. The role emphasizes adherence to HIPAA and coding guidelines with ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required with completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology courses.
• Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CPC-A Apprentice advised or preferred.
• 1 year Hospital and/or Physician Coding experience; 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics; 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge and strong data entry skills.
• Ability to work with health care team and understand ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines.

Responsabilités

• Review medical information and assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements and enter coded information into designated system.
• Manage unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Stay updated with ICD-10 CM/CPT changes through training and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
