Job summary

TEKsystems in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Manager to lead the HIM operations and ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient health records. This contract role partners with clinical, compliance, and technology teams to drive performance and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include managing daily HIM operations, developing staff, setting metrics, and ensuring HIPAA compliance, ROI processes, and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-6 years in a hospital setting with revenue cycle exposure.
• Experience leading a HIM team including charts, billing, and records processes.
• Knowledge of Release of Information (ROI) procedures.
• Ability to set and monitor performance metrics toward goals.
• Strong leadership and teaching abilities.
• Ability to provide updates and stats to customers (Ascension).
• Budget management for staff levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily HIM operations to meet SLAs and productivity targets.
• Lead, coach, and develop HIM staff and supervisors.
• Set department goals, monitor metrics, implement improvements.
• Ensure staffing, workload distribution and resource use.
• Oversee medical records, scanning, indexing, release of information.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and readiness for audits.
